XP Internet explorer problem
« on: April 05, 2004, 11:31 »
I have a problem with my MS Internet explorer. When i start, it starts fine. Then after a couple of browses it shuts down. With an error report, doesnt tell u whats wrong. But i have a feeling it was something i installed on the toolbar. I dont know what it is though. Is there a way of uninstalling stuff on the tool bar? Or a way of resetting the iexplorer altogether? Thanks

What OS are you on, if it is XP, you can do a restore back to a time prior to installing whatever it is installed. Word of advice, willy nilly downloads, and not keeping a record of same is not to be recommended, for obvious reasons.

You could also do a repair of IE in the Add/Remove programs section. You'll find it under Settings> Control Panel.

Even better, take this oppertunity to install Mozilla web browser http://www.mozilla.org/ ;D

Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore.  Then choose a date before it went t*ts up, and it should restore to that date.

Failing that, are the Toolbars you installed listed in Control Panel > Add / Remove Programs?  You might be able to just uninstall them.

The quickest way is from Start/Help and Support, then in Pick a Task, click on Undo Changes to Your PC with System Restore.
This brings a window up with a choice of creating a restore point or Restore my Computer to an Earlier Time.
Select the Restore my Computer option and click next and follow the instructions  :)

I actually didnt restore lol. I did that add/remove programs you suggested. First i removed Yahoo!, (i only use it to play games) then removed something called (Xact) then all was fine. But that restore will prolly be handy in the future, save me running here crying for help like a lil girl lol.
