Hi peeps,
My new pc has a pioneer dvr-107d rewriter, I have been trying to write cds but the version of nero i have on which is 5.5 is only giving me the choice to burn images. Is it my rewriter thats not right or do i need a later version of nero to find cd burner? HELP >:(

Well, the latest version of Nero is 6, I think, but 5.5 should still do the job, Shaz.  When you open it, there should be a drop down menu in the top left corner (see screenshot below), where you can select CD or DVD.  There is also an option to Choose Recorder in the menus at the top -- File ¦ Edit ¦ View ¦ Recorder.

Hope that helps, but come back to us if it doesn't.   :)

So, just to clarify, what drives have you got on your PC?

If it's detecting the DVD Writer, you can still record audio CDs with it - are you saying there's no 'CD' option in that drop down box?

Do you actually have a CD-RW as well as the DVD Writer?  You can also write CDs with the DVD Writer.  If that's the only recordable drive you have, that's the one you'll have to use.  If you have a CD Writer as well, and Nero hasn't detected it, I'm not sure what you have to do, as I've just looked on mine, and can't see what you need to do for it to detect which drives you have.  Mine has always just done it.   :-\

Why don't you try what you want to do using the DVD-RW, and see what happens?

Sharon are you burning data or copying a cd ?
If you are copying a cd and you only have the one DVD writer drive and no CD rom then you have to write it to the hard drive using the image recorder and then burn the image back using the CD option which should then appear in your drop down list of nero express  :)

It's because you are using an OEM version of Nero. If the OEM drive it is related to is no longer in the system then you will not be able to write to anything apart from the image recorder.

If not an OEM then it will need upgrading to correctly detect the Pioneer.
hey promised the earth! Then delivered mud.
Technically it did meet the spec.
