POD's Graphics Card
« on: April 12, 2004, 17:46 »
POD has PM'ed me, and e-mailed me some screenshots of a problem with installing a new graphics card.  Here is what he said:

i recently tried installing a graphics card which did not work it came up with a dialog box which i would like to show it you so if i could email you you the screenshots that wud b great.. but also after that a black screen came up wen i was loading the pc up about power and megahertz or sumthing ???
PoD

note: i have tried reinstalling the card but it didnt work and there seemed to be a power prob as well have you got any idea wat i shud do???

did you get the pics

thanx in advance PoD

The screenshot below is probably the most relevent.  The other two were of the other tabs in the box, just saying that the drivers were not installed.  The only thing I could suggest was re-installing the drivers from the CD that came with the card, and adjusting the BIOS to see a PCI card, but I didn't comment about the power issue.  Does anyone else have any better suggestions?

I think the conversation would be best brought out here, POD, so as to get the benefit of other's help.

yeh i used the drivers from the disk
its agp.. geforce2mx400 64mb the box just poped up its self but this pc has never had a pci slot graphics card.. it says on the box agp 4x/2x/1x if thats any use?

thanx in advance PoD

There seems to be some confusion between PCI and AGP.  The screenshot refers to a PCI device.

PoD, it sounds as if its picking up the unknown onboard graphics.
Have you got onboard graphics, if so go into the bios and disable it  :)
