Hi gioimp and :welcome:

Which OS are you using ?
I sounds like your security settings are set too high in Internet Explorer.
You can alter them if you open IE and go to Tools/Internet Options and look in the Security tab.

That file on startup is part of RAS :

Remote Access Services (RAS) Control

CSRASCTL.VBX, CSRAS16.OCX, CSRAS32.OCX

The RAS control assists in establishing a dial-up connection with an Internet Service Provider. The control requires Microsoft's Remote Access Services to be installed and configured. The control enumerates all of the configured dial-up connections which can be offered to the user for selection. Once selected, the control is able to initiate a connection.

I am afraid I havent come across anything relating to that before, maybe someone else can help on that bit.
Do you connect to the internet ok usually and dont have any unexpected cut offs  ???

Hello and :welcome:

How are you trying to do the windows update? There has been a few problems acessing the site using the standard redirect of late and you may want to try visiting directly:
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp

The missing file is a file for remote access and monitoring of dial up networking http://www.catalyst.com/support/help/cstools3/visual/ras/ - usually a sign of a missing file for a start up application.

Few questions:
1. What Operating system are you running?

2. What browser are you using (it may be worth trying a different one e.g. Opera, Mozilla etc. as the problem may only affect Internet Explorer).

3. What sort of Internet access have you got (broadband? Dial up) and the name of the provider (As some have their own dedicated software)

4. Do you have anti-spyware software installed? (A typical problem with those is inability to acess certain web-sites, extra 'favourites' etc.)
hey promised the earth! Then delivered mud.
Technically it did meet the spec.
