hidden adware
« on: May 06, 2004, 18:51 »
i recently had a problem with hidden adware, so i downloaded spyware search and destroy to get rid of the problem.it worked but it didn't get rid of two files, as when i deleted them they kept coming back:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\comet systems

Recentlt i've been experiencing massive system slowdown and thought this may be responsible??

could anybody tell me where to locate these files?? and also advise me if i should elete them or not??

Comet Cursor should have been picked up, but is obviously escaping the sweep.  Have you also installed the free version of Adaware, Jam?

The 'belt and braces' approach of using two apps works for me.  Let us know how you get on.   :)

They may be hiding in System Restore if you are using ME or XP, turn it off and scan and delete in Safe Mode.
Dont forget to turn System Restore back on again after you return to normal windows  :)
