second hand pcs

i bought a 2nd hand pc with windows2000 on it but it is password locked to gfet in and also in the bios setting it has a password how do i get around this

I'd usually ask the person I bought it off :)

Failing that you can reset the bios to clear out the bios password allowing you to do a boot off floppy/cd.

Then use one of the Linux utilities to reset the password or rebuild the machine.

hi dack how would i reset the bios how do i get in2 the menu and what would i do to it :-[

Usually a jumper on the motherboard next to the battery. Exact position depends on the board you have got.

When you reset the bios by moving the jumper to the alternative position, leaving it for a few seconds and then returning it to it's original position. This resets all the cmos setting including the bios password.
