Administrator Account won't go away?
« on: August 06, 2004, 17:05 »
Hello,

Every time I start my computer it goes to the "administrator" account and I have to then log off and go to my account. It says normally that the "administrator" account is only there when no other administrator account exists. When I log in to my regular account I have no ability to remove the "Administrator" account. Any ideas?

I know I probably caused this because I have special web software that I have been using from windows 98 that means I had to create a folder in "documents and settings" so I wouldn't have to rework 50 websites. It's not worth explaining. Basically it means I have a folder in there that has nothing to do with any other users, and does not show up as a user itself. However, it might be a culprit?

Hopefully there is a way I can always start up in my regular user account without having to switch all the time.

I'm running Win XP Pro Tablet Edition Service Pak 2 Beta (problem existed before Service Pak 2)

Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

Just a thought, but can you not be the Administrator? Then you wouldn't need any other accounts, unless other people use your machine.

Hey Simon, unfortunately i created a user under my name and all my files are under it's documents and settings. The "administrator" has nothing. Hope that makes sense

Yeah, it does, but sorry, I don't have any experience with user settings, as I've never had to change mine.  Hopefully someone who knows about this will be along to help you soon.

I dunno if this will work, but you can try: http://www.acs.nmu.edu/docs/Help/System/Windows/XPUserAccounts.php#Default

Setting a Default User Account for Logging In

You can set your computer to automatically log on for you at startup with the account and password you specify. To set the default user account:

1. Make sure you are logged in using the account you want to have as the default login.

2. Click here to run the Set Default User utility, and click Open to run the utility immediately.

3. If you ever change your default user account or just the password, re-run this utility to update the settings.

To turn off the automatic logon and receive a login prompt that lets you specify an account each time you log in, click here) to run the Turn AutoLogon Off utility, and click Open to run the utility immediately.

Worth a try!  ;D ;D

PS, Anyone know how to make it so that you can just type a word that will bring up a url? U know what I mean? Like, click "here" to do this or something...

Thanx Simon, that helps quite a bit! :)
l33t h@x0r... sort of...

You need to do something like this, Hiatus:

Code: [Select]
PC Pals

which shows as PC Pals.

Hope that helps.   :)
