erasing search topics? please help
« on: August 11, 2004, 04:56 »
Can anyone tell me if there is a way to erase content that shows up in the search bar on your pc?  Am using a public pc with little eyes that like to check out everything.  Tried erasing, temp files and history and that doesnt rid them.  Any help anyone? Please?

If it's just the normal search bar then highlighting and deleting will work.  If it's the Google search bar then just click on the Google logo and you will find a drop down menu which will allow you to delete the search history.  If all else fails then you can download "Window Washer" which has a 30 day free trial before you have to shell out hard cash for it.

The latest Adaware gives you the option of erasing the search history - it's in the non-critical group after scanning.

Tony often spouts on about a thing called Empty Temp, but I'm not sure if it erases the address bar.  You could, of course, consider a superior browser.  Mozilla allows clearance of the Location Bar in two or three clicks, and also has a built in pop up blocker, cookie manager, password / form manager, email client, and HTML editor, plus whatever you wish to add, from a vast library of optional plugins.   ;D
