Are links to personal webspace safe?
« on: September 25, 2004, 13:05 »
I have a music file I want to share with a fairly large community.  I had thought of uploading it to my own webspace, and providing a download link on their forum, but something made me wonder how safe this is.  Could it enable somone to gain access to other files on my personal webspace?

I think that you would be ok, although from the link they could find the address of your root folder and if they new the names of your files they could add the name to the root and copy those too Simon.

eg By going to the properties on your avatar and deleting the file name of your avatar I came upon your webpage.

Lazy sod, you should have done something more on it by now  :P , so if I wanted to spend some time guessing at what you have named your files then I could add that name and see and copy those too  :)
