Outlook Express attachments
« on: January 21, 2003, 23:01 »
I've just received e-mails with attachments from two friends, both of which are jokes and probably suitable for the forum.  Although it says the attachments are there, and gives the file size, when I click on them to open them they are greyed out.  The one e-mail is a second attempt so I wonder if its something wrong with my mail setup?  I am fairly confident that they have been sent to me correctly.

Try saving the attachment into Word or some other folder and see if it opens from there Clive. This has happened to me but when I saved it to another folder the attachment opened. :)

Thanks for putting me on the right track.  It was indeed my security settings in OE and I've disabled them so I can now open the attachments.  Oh, they are good!  I hope I can upload some of them.

Steps to fix this problem:
Open Outlook -> Goto Tools -> Options -> Security Tab -> Uncheck the "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus" box then click okay and close Outlook express. Then restart outlook express and all fixed.
