hehe, thanks, no camera, anyway I already have several.

Okay the speakers all work lovely, its like being in the cinema here now

I got the ethernet cable/cross over cable they called it, and I didn't get the card I got the adapter as I didn't want to put a card in my old puter to just transfer the stuff over.

But I can't do this networking thingy      The firewall knows my other puters are trying to connect so I allowed them but still I can't see them.

Maybe I should just start again.

Its harder on my old puter as its ME but the other one and this one have XP.

Can you help sandra please??  Dunno what I'm doing wrong.

WHAT......they didn't throw in a free camera....the Chuckle Brothers would have done...two infact.....OK not new ones.....but they would be a matching set

:pmsl:  Have you still got yours?  I shoved mine at the back of the wardrobe - can't think of anyone I dislike enough to give it to!

How exciting, Michelle!  :thumb:  Well done for getting it all set up!  Good luck with the networking - I reckon Sandra must be becoming an expert in setting up other people's machines!

Can you give me the details of which pc has what and which OS they are on and how many pcs youre trying to network Michelle.
I assume you mean that you have got a USB to ethernet adaptor  :(
It may be easier if you call me on messenger then we can go through it easier directly and then say what we have done on here later  :)

Simon,

it's in my desk draw, I keep meaning to put it in the glove box of the car. You know in case you need  to take pictures of the position of the car if your in a collision.

But there again what if somebody founds out its in there.....and they smashed the window ....ripped open the camera and stole  the four AA batteries.  :D

I have got the folders shared, on the XP one its just the internet I can't get on, it show's its connected to the network - I think its an AOL thing, as I've been looking at a forum about problems like mine, so I'll look into that more before I trouble you sandra.    :)

I'm really only networking one computer, it has XP on the same as the new one.

My old computer I am just trying to share the files so that I can copy them over, that has ME on it, I'll have a look at that today.

The 2 XP pcs both have ethernet dont they Michelle ?
If so just plug the crossed cable between them and run the network wizard on the one thats connected to the modem first, select the option "This computer connects directly to the internet"
At the end of the wizard select finish the wizard I dont need to etc.
On the second XP pc run the wizard again and select "This computer connects to the net through another computer" cant remember exact wording on that one, and again at the end just finsih the wizard.
Make sure that the box is unticked in the LAN properties in network connections folder for ICS firewall  :)

I'd have a look at "Network connections" in control panel for that one Shell  :D

I'm sure that's what Sandra's meaning

Sorry Michelle, I was giving you wrong information, thats obsolete now if youre on XP with SP2, it was only when SP1 was on and the firewall was off by default but ICS was on by default when you ran the network wizard

Where are you at now with the network ?

well I deleted the other ones I did and started again, I think the firewall is stopping it or aol, it shows it as bridged and both puters see each other but I can't get on internet.

I've only set up the ics networking at last! :-)   Bliddy AOL !!!!!!

its seems to take its time connecting but once it is its fast enough.

Found a guy who found out how to do it and now he's doing a website, we should put it on here somewhere.

www.tec2spec.co.uk

Its very detailed, but he said he can't put pics on yet

Thanks for all of your help sandra too! :-)
