I think there are loads of free Forum Software packages, PoD.  http://www.phpbb.com/ is one, http://www.ikonboard.com/ is another, and I believe the software we use for PC Pals is also free (http://www.yabbforum.com/), but I think you need quite a bit of knowledge of PHP and MySQL to set it up.  Just do a search for 'free forum software' on Google, and see what you come up with.

with phpBB you need to set up a database which is easy enough if you have a proper hosting account and phpBB is relativly easy to use.  ;D

Snitz forums are free and they work great. Programmed in ASP, so you need to host it on a Windows server (or Apache set up for ASP).

I recommend a free Discussion App from Server.com who are very nice people with a high degree of commercial integrity.

Their free boards carry ads, but leased ones (like the one I use on my own site) don't.  You'll also find that a server.com board has plenty of flexibilty and can be customised to look just how you want it.

Plus, they do a lot of other great free stuff too.  Tell them  Rod H sent you, ok?   :)
