Topic: Just got some creative 5.1 speakers and...

my sound card doesn`t support em , doh ! , can anybody recommend a decent 5.1 card ? , i`ve read the other threads with sandra recommending 7.1 cards at a cheap price, will these still work ? whats the difference ?

5.1 has Centre, L&R Front, L&R Rear and the Subwoofer, whereas 7.1 adds L&R Side speakers.  I would think that you could still use 5.1 speakers with a 7.1 soundcard, if you wanted to go with one of Sandra's recommendations, but you might wish to wait for a techie to confirm that.

I aint red that if sandra had writin it, you can use 5.1 system on a 7.1 card and the advantage there is when you come to upgrade no need to buy a new card and take your comp apart again.
