You reckon a system restore will do it? But if you're thinking its a software problem it wont work will it?

It should work if its a software problem but not if its hardware Mark.
Sorry I havent had time to see if I could find anything about it yet so a restore may be worth trying  :)

Just as a precaution, can I suggest a complete virus scan, plus Ad Aware and Spybot scans to see what shows up?  Maybe something is trying to lauch, that shouldn't be?

My other half, who's totally computer illiterate, was telling me earlier that some of his colleagues at work had also experienced this problem.  They were certain it was a virus that the AV companies hadn't yet managed to get to grips with  :(.

Sorry to be so vague but I thought it worth mentioning.

Sounds a whole lot like adware. I agree with previous recommendations. Here are some links:

-- Download AdAware, check for updates, run it and remove whatever it finds

-- Download, update and turn on SpywareBlaster and SpywareGuard.
