Overclocked PCs blamed for Windows crashes

The practice of overclocking PCs has been blamed for an unusually high number of reported Windows crashes.
Raymond Chen, a Microsoft Windows developer, has revealed that Microsoft received a series of crash reports containing errors which, he said, 'made no sense whatsoever'.

Investigations eventually found that the computers in question has been overclocked, either with the user's knowledge or, in some cases, by the shop that sold them.

The users were advised to stop overclocking or at least to overclock less.

'And in all cases, the people reported that their computer that used to crash regularly now runs smoothly,' Chen said. 'Moral of the story: There's a lot of overclocking out there, and it makes Windows look bad.'
