Stop Speed camera Fines.

Needless to say, one of my favourite categories of human animal is the tax evader.  The less money the human hands over to the politician, the less the latter has to fund bombing people back to the Dark Ages or funding the "One-legged Lesbians For A Hetrosexual-Free Society" brigade.

One of the most hated stealth taxes at the moment is the money the authorities are raking in from the installation of speed cameras anywhere and everywhere.  However, while looking for a scam, I came across this:

I heard something about this spray, or a similar one, on the radio a couple of nights back.
Apparently it does work as they say but if they make a negative of the photo it can easily be read  :(

I understand that with the introduction of speed cameras on the M4 in Wiltshire, traffic is now dangerously bunched up at 70 mph.

i love that first sentance... reflects photo radar flash. umm now what does that mean. well firstly the detection works by reflection so surely they should say it scatters photo radar flash.. and photo radar flash - what a term! they definetly make it sound like one process which it isnt. the radar sensor uses your whole car.. the photo takes a picture of your car aimed at you plate. I wouldnt buy this product when they can't even get the terminology right.

Why not just drive within speed limits, or would that be succumbing to state control?  I can't help think that speed limits have been set to ensure a smooth traffic system if everyone abides by them.

I can't understand what it is with our society that means everyone has to be so competitive.  You've got to be faster than the next guy, have a bigger house, the latest clothing fashions, the latest technology.  So much of it is down to marketing and doesn't actually improve your lot.  It just means that the mice are continually running faster in their wheel.

I can hardly believe that we've found another subject we agree on!  Crikey!  I might just need that second bottle of champagne (for medicinal purposes) to help me get over the shock   .

I also happen to agree with Gill.  The best way to avoid being caught by speed cameras, is not to speed!   8)

Well, I won't be getting any fines as I haven't driven since 1992, for two reasons.

1) I don't really need a car and would just be throwing money away.

2) If I did drive there is no way I would fund the parasites known as insurers, so it is better for everybody that I keep off the road.

Speed limits arent set at what is appropriate for todays cars.
Back when tyres, brakes, suspension, steering and handling werent as good as they are now then maybe a 70 mph limit on the motorways was acceptable.
A more realistic speed limit of around 100 mph on a motorway would be well within most drivers and cars abilities.
My car is quite happy cruising between 85 and 90mph so I wouldnt be tempted to break the speed limit as I often do now on the motorways, especially when they are virtually empty.
Theres is a dual carriageway near me that has a 30 mph limit on it and as its a long steepish downhill section its quite hard to keep to the limit apart from when passing the two cameras on that section.
Obviously the authorities realise this as there isnt even one on the uphill side.
This road would be just as safe with a 60 mph limit in place and possibly even a 70 mph limit

The thing that the authorities dont seem to realise is that speed isnt a problem, its only inappropriate speed that causes accidents.

i think that the development of cars has been taken into account by the authorities but remember sandra.. .some people still have old s**t, you have to cater for the worst situation.

from what I have observed the speed limits seem appropriate in most built up areas and in the city in general (talking as a pedestrain). I do agree that the motorway seems a little low as most people appear to be going greater than 80mph anyway!

....well I am sure I will start to get annoyed with some speed limits soon... I am starting to learn to drive over the summer!

Even my old 1965 car has rack and pinion steering, independant front and rear suspension and disc brakes all round and is definately capable of performing as well as a lot of much more modern cars  :)

I saw an E-Type when I was in Bath over Easter and it was a real head-turner.  It's hard to believe that a car built 40 years ago could have been so far ahead of its time.  My first thoughts were "That lucky Sandra has one of those!"
