When I copy files onto a DVD (or a CD), even only put a small amount of bytes, I am unable to add any more to the DVD (or CD).
Right click / info tells me the disk is full.

How can I cure this? Bryan.

Can you tell us which software you are using? Sounds like you might need to stop it from finalising the disc after burning.

As Simon says it sounds as if you are finalising the disc/s by not selecting the Multisession option, I think if you use XPs built in burning software then it doesnt have the option like 3rd party programs often do.

As Sandra said, Windows XP doesn't have the options, but if you are burning data CDs, it doesn't finalise anyway, as I have added to data backups in this way, many times. If you are burning Audio CDs with XP, I think it will automatically finalise, but then most other burning software will do so also, unless there's an option not to. Some CD players will not play unfinalised Audio CDs.

Try the free version of Deepburner. Remember to tick the box "Create Multisession Disk".

Thanks to every one that has replied.

A search through the relevant files, and I found the option to finalise after recording box was ticked, so I unticked it!

I have high hopes that has done the trick.

Is it possible to unfinalise a disk?

You can only unfinalise re-writable (RW) discs, which Nero can do, under Recorder > Erase Rewritable Disc. Not sure about any other burning software, but I would think most would have the function somewhere.
