There was this woman, Mary MacDougall from Inverness, who's husband Peter has just passed away.

Mary wanted to post an obituary, but the cost was something she did not want to incur.

A friend had suggested that the local paper will post ads for free if the total word count is 6 words or less. Delighted, frugal Mary decided to give the paper a call.

The person taking the call at the paper asked Mary what she would like to post. "Well...", said Mary, "I have heard that if you have an ad of 6 words or less, the ad is free?". To which the person replied "Yes, that is our policy". "Great" said Mary, "then I would like to post the following in the obituaries "Peter MacDougall from Inverness is dead".

The clerk is quite taken aback, and decides to run this by his editor. The editor, upon hearing this, replied "The poor dear needs to do more for her husband, give her 9 words for free".

The clerk goes back and relays the news to Mary. She ponders what to say, and after a few moments finally comes up with her solution.

"I know what I want to say now, "Peter MacDougall from Inverness is dead. Volvo for sale!".
