Just turned on my new build desktop but found the cpu cooler doesnt run shoud it run permanently??no action except small jerk when first powered up....???????????

Yes it should run continously although it could be a variable speed one but it would never be meant to stop intentionally.

Is it a new PSU, I had a low powered PSU doing that recently, it didnt have enough power to start the pc so it tripped out and just made the cpu fan do about a quarter turn each time I pressed the start button  :?

yes its a new build...the fan runs fine if i pug it in elsewhere on the board for case cooling slot...?????brand new 500 watt supply

Do you get any beeps or anything on screen or is the pc just dead ?

If its dead then check that the Clear CMOS jumper is set in the run postion.

yes it beebs and starts.....but my grafix card isnt working no op system installed  either just thought id power it up....and check fans...
It runs connected to jsfan1 but not on jcfan1??
excuse my lack of knowledge...

Whats the motherboard that you have and can you enter the bios ok or hasnt it got onboard gfx  ?

Ive fitted the grafix card and can enter the bios...its a biostar k8 nf4st-a9-a01.....?
