well done, we tried to ban them..but they rebelled. At least it is festive music now (I'm to lazy to turn them off!).... though slade is really doing my f***ing head in!!

What I'm trying to do is install iTunes...i get pretty far into the installation, but suddenly it pops up with an error saying it can't write to the registry...ive gone to the part in the registry where it was having problems and i can modify stuff so i don't know what the problem is...

anyways i was thinking maybe if i could log in as admin it would work...i dunno...

Well in the registry editor did you check the advanced permissonis on the key section your trying to edit? Make sure your account has full control. Should do.

note the phrase "likes of" :-) and anyway probably not, the seeds were sew before slade! :-) And anyway its one song in particular. I don't know if I am being a boring sod but all these christmas songs do my head in, why cant we have a nice jazzy christmas? (now to go to London where I am bound to hear more of this crap!) :-)

You have to have been around in the 70s to appreciate "the likes" of Slade, Sweet, etc, but they did pave the way for many bands of today. You missed the best musical era, Sam! :wink:

Well it almost worked... :roll:

I went and changed all the permissions to full control, and made it past the first error on setup... now im getting another one that i can't seem to fix... it's at the keys:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\.pls
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\.pls\OpenWithList
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\.pls\OpenWithList\iTunes.exe

so obviously there is something wrong with the .pls key...i can't do anything with it though because when i click on it an error message pops up saying "Cannot open .pls: Error while opening key...so i tried deleting it...then i tried renaming it...then i tried deleting it again, and again and again...but it didn't work

I can't even modify the permissions on it, just error message after error message...I think it's somehow corrupt?

I dunno...

You should grant access to the subchildren for the HKCU group see if that works.

1. open regedit
2. Right click on HKey_current_user pick permissions
3. Click Advanced
4. Make sure your user is listed there. Select your account click edit. Make sure you have full control selected. Click Okay
5. Select "replace permision entries on all child opbjects ...."
6. Click Okay... Click Okay
7. Uninstall your pogram if listed then reinstall.

8. If all fails this may be caused by a protective script on startup. Reboot to safemode and login with your profile and try the installation there.

Bah... looks like the only way to fix this is to format... but i can't because this is the "family computer"... too bad i don't have internet access on my computer or everything would be fine...
