Computer store PC World is offering all its visitors free CD with PC spyware-scanning software in a bid to make web users aware of malware.
Anti-spyware company, Webroot Software, has teamed up with PC World to release the PC Spyware Scan tool kit, which identifies malware and tests users' PC vulnerabilities to spyware and other identity theft.
Internet users can also download and run the Spy Audit solution, which supports Windows 98SE, 2000, Me and XP Home and Professional operating system, for free at the Webroot site.
The companies say they want to educate computer users about the ills of spyware and let them know that they could already be infected without knowing it.
As Webroot's free software finds spyware but doesn't remove it, you will need to buy Webroot's spyware removal tools or visit other anti-spyware websites, including Trend Micro's, to get rid of spyware for free.
