A new breed of shopper has been identified by electrical retailer Comet after figures reveal a quarter of its online sales are made at night-time.
Labelled 'Bedtime Buyers', Comet believes that people are finally taking advantage of the internet's 24/7 opening hours.
In one week alone, 9 per cent of all Comet's online sales of the new iPod Nano were made between midnight and 1am.
Other products, such as the Sony PSP and the new Tom-Tom Go 300 Satellite Navigation System are selling well through the night, shifting up to 17 per cent of sales after dark.
