You can specify a text alert on your mobile but that will cost you 10p a time.  I don't know of any other method myself.  :(

Hi, Keith.

If you mean by "normal procedure" having to open your email client and hitting 'receive' then there are several free notification programs that run in the system tray and check for waiting mail at pre-set intervals.  Eprompter is the one that I use.

However, if you mean being alerted that you have waiting mail while you are away from your computer, then Clive's suggestion of a text alert on a mobile is the only option I know of.

Another similar solution to Eprompter, is Mailwasher, which allows you to view mail while it is still on the server, before you download it to your Inbox.  This facilitates the option of deleting spam or other unwanted mail, before it makes contact with your PC.
There is also Pop Tray, which works in a similar way, and has one advantage over Mailwasher, in that you can use it for multiple e-mail accounts.
Many thanks to all our members, who have made PC Pals such an outstanding success!   :thumb:

No point in Keith using MailWasher as he can already access his mail from the BT/Yahoo server without using an e-mail client.  They have a good spam filter too.
