Author Topic: Incredimail wont open (Read 2393 times)

Arghhhhhh this is annoying me in a BIG way, since yesterday

My Incredimail just wont open :? When I try to open it, you can tell it tries to start but just comes to a halt :? absolutely nothing :?

I've uninstalled it completely, cleaned every possible last trace of it .... re-installed but still 'no go' :evil:

I've tried it by closing Zone Alarm Pro, Nod 32, Spyware Doctor and other things running in background to see if any of these are stopping it from opening, but it's still the same.

Even when I reinstalled it, it didn't seem to finish off installing i.e setting up my accounts etc All the icons, program folders are there but just nothing is happening

I'm ready to throw the disc in to format, but I'd rather try to see if this problem and my other problem (in another post) can be resolved incase this happens again.

So I hope you good people out there can help me out :wink:

Sounds like somethings left in the registry after you uninstalled it

Try a program called Your Uninstaller.
That may find any remnants that you may have missed and wil clean up the registry so that you can reinstal IM again

Hi again Sandra,
I did use your uninstaller, then tune up registry cleaner in tune up utilties 2006 :? I think I removed ever last trace. But I'm going to try again, you never know 3rd time lucky *fingers crossed*

I'd like to know why it just stopped working in the first place

it's a good job I made a backup of my emails only a couple of days before.

Well I think I might try to get some shut eye and try sort out these problems again tomorrow.

Well I've just completely uninstalled it all again, searched for any remaining files .... all gone, nothing left in registry.

Reinistalled it, after installation ask do I want to run it...Yes...oh nooooooo it's still not opening

it's driving me bonkers

It's got to be a program running in the background that's stopping it from opening...but what :? I haven't changed any settings in my zone alarm, spyware doctor etc Hmmmmm :idea: I did install Adaware the other day....do u think anything in the settings in that it could be stopping it from running :?: mind you I don't have Adaware running all the time, as I leave spyware doctor to do that job :?

I'm going to uninstall adaware and see how things go ...back soon!!

I know you said you removed everything, but one thing that's easy to miss is the desktop shortcut icon. Try creating a new one by going to the Incredimail folder in C:\Program Files, locate the Bin file, and inside there, you should find, among others, IMApp, which you can right click and Send To > Desktop (create shortcut). This should replace the existing desktop icon, which may have an incorrect path.

Yes I removed everything including the desktop icon. I've already been into the folder to try see if it'll run from there but to no avail

Came across this from 2003 so the latest version mentioned will be out of date:

This is my own tutorial of installing incredimail which have proved difficult for members. I have many success's with this so please do read it step by step
First of all make sure you are using the latest version of incredimail which is [3501787] You will find the build number by clicking the tab help and then clicking on about incredimail. If you have not got the latest version then please do download the correct version from there website. When you have done that uninstall the version you have in add and removes in the control panel. once uninstalled you will need to delete some registry keys as this is what your problem is. You may have uninstalled the software but there are some keys left behind. Now go to START/ RUN/ And then type in the box REGEDIT This will open up the registry. Whatever you do only touch the keys in the following hives only. Right at the top of the registry you will see HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE AND HKEY_CURRENT_USER. Please look in both hives. Tick on the plus which will open the hive now scroll down to see if this key is there ElaShm If it is delete. Then further scroll down to see if incredimail.is still there. If it is delete.
Anything you find there which says incerdimail or ELASHM can be deleted.

Now close the registry down reboot the computer and install incredimail again. If you remain uncertain at any point then just post back. And remember when in the registry you do not touch any of the other hives or keys.

One final point when uninstalled do use a good registry cleaner like reg supreme which can be found here before trying to reinstall incredimail

I'll have another go and delete those entries 'ELASHM' if they're there.

BTW I can't see/hear your flash signature now :? just all the html for it :?

Your signature is back now :? what the heck is going on, one min it's there, then it's not, some other people's flash signatures I haven't been able to see at all ....... :?

When this download finishes in 5hours time (downloading at a crappy speed at the mo, so lets hope it speeds up) I think I will give up and throw the disc in to format, but of course I'll try incredimail once again.

Looks like its a problem with your Macramedia installation.

Can you uninstall then download it again from the macramedia site.

That should sort out your webcam problem and missing flash files on here hopefully

Thanks again everyone for the help, if you've been following my other post you'll know I've formatted my pc 3 times to try sort out my other problem. Incredimail is back up and running

Pleased to hear that, sorry you had to fix it yourself without much help from us though

Its strange how some programs can mess other programs up isnt it.
