Welcome to View from a bench - a place to sit, rest and enjoy the view.

I'm sure that, like me, there have been times when you've been walking in the countryside or at the coast somewhere and you've come across a bench which has been placed at a convenient spot for you to sit, rest and enjoy the view. If that has been your experience, then this website is for you !

Over a period of time, I have been collecting photographs and information about the location of a number of these benches and this website has been designed to present this information to a wider audience and to allow others to enjoy them.

Feel free to explore this website, 'visit' the benches that interest you and enjoy the views. If you have any photographs (preferably digital) of places that you have visited where you have enjoyed the view from a suitably located bench, we'd be pleased to hear from you and include your bench on the website for others to enjoy.

We are also always on the look-out for unusual benches, or benches with an interesting history that could be included.
