Please be advised that a CRITICAL security flaw has been discovered in Winamp and that no patch exists at the time of writing.

An exploit for this vulnerabilty is already publicly available.  It allows execution of arbitrary code on a user's system when e.g. a malicious website is visited.  The vulnerability has been confirmed in version 5.12, but other versions may also be affected.

Thanks Rod.  I do use Winamp, but presumably it's safe unless one visits iffy websites.

good that winamp are bringing out the updates, I have used this software since the first release...its just great! :-)...when I'm using my windows machine that is.

WinAmp users are advised they can now get this problem fixed by going to http://www.winamp.com/player/ where you can download and install Winamp 5.13 Player .
