Hi All,

I want to build a site similar to the one at http://www.neave.com

Can anyone suggest any books / ebooks / sites that would help me.

I have some experiance of dreamweaver and HTML, but very little experiance of Flash.

Also do I need any special hosting features for flash?

Thanks all

DJ

I dont think you need anything special for flash files on a normal website.

If you get a program such as Swish or Swish Max you will soon pick it up and there are plenty of tutorials on how to use it on the main site at :

Thanks Sandra your a Star!!

I was looking at Macromedia Flash, but Swish looks a lot easier to use.

I'll have a look at it once I get a spare few minutes and see how much I can cobble togehter.

Cheers :thumb:

Don't you like the one at www.neave.com ?

I just want to design one that is really straight forward to use and quite unusual.

well said cam! :-)

I just think that website should use (x)html or some with some webspecific programming langauge (i.e. php or asp) to get the job done. Using flash really cuts of users who don't have flash installed. Oh and btw that includes me at work... which was bliss when si had his damn xmas flash banner :-)

Flash is great for games and other animations but for the main content of a website then eeewww. :-) But thats just my opinion maybe I am just a flashist (I like that term!) but you will find that I am not the only website designer who is.

Fair comments Sam, probably why I haven't try to build a site in flash yet. Always stuck to HTML with CSS or PHP.

Just wanted to try something different.  Think I'll still have a go and see how I get on.  Will probably end up with a basic HTML site instead!

Is it possible to convert FLA files to SWF and then edit them in Swish?

Help someone  :D

Thanks

Unless I'm mistaken, and I could well be, I think you can use the Import facility in Swish (File > Import), which will convert them to an editable format, then you should be able to Export it again (File > Export) to a SWF file, but I don't think it will allow you to Export back to a FLA.

The File > Import menu doesn't include the .fla extension.

Next suggestion
