Originally ATX mobos were 20 pin then they had some 20 + 4 and sometimes they had a single 24 pin as you psu has.

I have heard of people using the 20 pin and the seperate 4 pin side by side to make the 24 pin but I dont know how they get around the lugs that stop them being connected incorrectly, maybe they just slice the lug off ?

Presumably you could chop the extra 4 off, if your mobo doesnt need them and modify the connector but I would like some verification that this was safe before I suggested you did it  :?

Seems like everyone has the opposite issue then me.They have a 24 pin mobo and a 20 pin psu. They do sell adapters for this.No luck finding a 24 pin psu to 20 pin mobo adapter yet

I think that you will have to compare your old PSU and the new ones and make sure the same wires are in the same place in relation to the 20 pins that are on the old PSU and then either use the old connecting block or modify the new one somehow  :(

Are you sure that the extra 4 pin part does not snap off?
I have just fitted a new power supply and thought that I had the same problem, until  found out.

They've redesigned the new 24 pin power supplies to have that snap off part. It came along a couple months after they released the 754 socket montherboards. Easier then buying the little adapter.
