Doom 3 Strafe problem
« on: February 28, 2006, 15:05 »
I'm not a big gamer but i do have Doom 3 installed and play occasionally.  Recently i cant bind any keys to the strafe (sideways) movement.  Even the default CTRL key doesnt work.  I havent got scroll or number locks on and i dont have any copying software (eg alcohol 120) installed although i do have nero 6 something on.  I've heard that Doom 3 doesnt like stuff like that but it apparently normally refuses to run at all if it detects such progs.  Its annoying as strafe is a very important movement.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game, although i did notice that saved games were still there after the reinstall so obviously some elements were not removed.  any ideas you gamers out there ??

gosh thats odd... have you tried asigning num pad commands to it. It has to be something wrong with the game and not due to you having any other tools installed.

Yes its strange  :?  I've just uninstalled then removed all further traces manually.  Reinstalled and still the same problem...all other keys work fine, just no key will bind to strafe.  Yet it worked fine when i first got the game, likewise the sequel addon resurrection of evil.

thats odd!!! I have had odd issues like that in the past with IR keyboards, not that I have had one in years. I didnt think many people had them and so it didn't even cross my mind that it could have been an issue. Are you sure, whilst chaning batteries, you didn't smack it? A good smack can normally fix anything electronic...one way or the other.

I was getting close to giving the doom disc a sound beating let alone a smack.  :D   As for the keyboard..i dont see the point of a wireless keyboard at all as i dont normally sit 10 feet or more away from the monitor
