AdAware Updates Froze
« on: May 13, 2006, 13:07 »
I tried to Update AdAware and it got 5% in and froze saying an error occurred. I tried this a couple of times on Wednesday before the computer died, so I tried to update it again same thing.
Do I need a new version or something.

Also I downloaded Everest and the version I got does show everything.
It just says Trial Version, is there somewhere I can get the full free version.
Michael has it on his computer, is it possible to get it from him?

Have you tried re-installing your Ad Aware, MB?  It may need a new version, which you can get from here.

You also have a PM.  ;)

Thanks Simon,
I uninstalled mine and installed that one but the same problem.  Error retrieving Update.
Could it be a configuration problem.

There is nothing in exceptions for AdAware.
But in configure it has Proxy settings with a X next to Use HTTP Proxy
and in Misc. it has a tick next to Backup old definitions file. :?

The configure I'm talking about is in the AdAware: Configure or Connect

Unless you are using a proxy server, which I don't think you are, those settings are correct.  Try removing Ad Aware from the firewall programs list, then restart it, and when the firewall asks for permission, allow it.

Umm... well it sounds like some sort of connection issue.  I don't really have any more ideas.  When was the last time you used it successfully?  Have you installed anything since which may be affecting it?

:dunno:

Not that I can think of.
When I first open it, it states that the definitions are 355 days old and would I like to check for updates. I click OK and it says installed definitions
are SE1R47 24.052005
And then I try to update and it only goes to 5%

I think I have figured it out.
In configure I unticked the Backup old Definitions File.
Then clicked connect and it updated ok.
