Yeah, firewalls tend not to happily co-exist on the same PC.  At worst, you may even find your security compromised, if two firewalls are conflicting against each other, so it's always best just to use one.  What products are you actually using?  Are they all in one security suites, including anti-virus, firewall, spyware and possibly spam protector?  If so, you only need one.  If you want to keep them both, you may have to disable some of the functions of one of them, in order to avoid conflicts, but really, it's more sensible just to have one all in one suite, then there are no compatibility issues.

I thought my Trend AV software was just an antivirus too, until I experienced difficulties networking.  It had a firewall hidden deep in its recesses.

It might be worth checking your other software, as Simon suggests.

I tell people to avoid zonealarm because it has so many compatibility problems. If i were you i would use the system restore to uninstall it and then install avg. Its a very effect antivirus and its definately more friendly.

They fulfill different purposes though, don't they Bob?  AVG is an antivirus whereas ZoneAlarm is a firewall.

The all in one's usually call themselves 'Security Suites', so if you have one of those, you shouldn't need anything else.
