APE image Extraction
« on: July 18, 2006, 23:03 »
Hopefully a google bot will find this for those who want to know how to extract these files. Two hours ago I downloaded a bunch of soundtracks compressed into an APE archive. They also came with cue files. When i would try and decompress using monkey's audio decompressor i would get a single huge wave file.

Heres the solution to get it decompressed into single tracks. Download "Exact Audio Copy" and install it. Download Monkey's audio and install it. Extract your APE file into a large wav file. When your done open up EAC and go to tools/ split wav by cue sheet/ and select the way you want it split.

Now if it gives you an error like it did me you probably need to edit your cue sheet. Go to the folder with your ape archive and your cue sheet should be near. Open it using notepad and where it says something similar to

Code: [Select]
FILE "CDImage.ape" WAVE

change .ape to .wav

Then you can go and use EAC to split it into its correct files. When your done you'll have a bunch of wave files to your soundtrack. You can use a wav to mp3 converter to get it into mp3 files.

Good luck.

I'm pretty sure Nero supports APE files, with the aid of a Plug In, as I have downloaded and burned them myself without any hassle.  :)
