Topic: slave drive question

A great end to my less than perfect pc week, it looks like the slave drive on my old pc is about to throw a 7. I intend to just disconnect it for now, but i seem to remember last time this happened the pc would take ages to boot as it searched for the missing drive.  How can i stop it looking for the missing drive (is it FIXMBR ?).

Check the jumpers on your master drive Dave.

Sometimes they are different for a single master to when they are a master with a slave.

You could also go into the bios and change the part where the primary and secondary master and slaves drives are set up, usually theyre set to automatic, that should be ok but if theyre set to user defined then set the primary slave to either NONE or AUTOMATIC and that should be fine.

I dont think i changed the master jumper when i added the slave and i'm fairly sure there was only master/slave /cable select   to choose from.  The bios suggestion sounds the best bet although i suspect last time i looked they were set to auto already. anyway ta Sandra
