Email Notifier
« on: November 21, 2006, 03:30 »
OK I know this hasn't worked for me and I think I know why now, it has something to do with hotmail not giving permission, some sort of security thing.
But I've kept it as I can just click on it to log straight in and check my emails, but not anymore.
I don't know what has changed, but now when I click on one of my 2 hotmail addresses it takes me to the log in page, (which it never has before), usually goes to the "today" page. And the message above the address is,    The e-mail address or password is incorrect. Please retype the e-mail address and password, or sign up if you haven't already done so. Need help signing in?
And following that is usually a pop up page about the certificate on this page not being verified, but Michael suggested that I "permanently accept" it as it wouldn't go away with the "temporary allow".

At this rate I'll have to use MSN Messenger, which means IE, good enough reason to fix this problem, eh Simon. ;) ;D

If it's a trusted site that you use frequently, then yes, you should permanently accept the certificate.  I can only think that Hotmail has changed something about the log in process, to make you go to their advertising pages before logging in.  They don't like the use of any kind of email notifier.  Have you checked for any newer versions of Email Notifier?  Also, have you allowed the Hotmail cookie?  Maybe they have changed it and you need to allow a new one?

Of course, MSN Messenger is not the only other alternative.  You could use Trillian, or simply add Hotmail to your bookmarks and check it that way.  ;)
Many thanks to all our members, who have made PC Pals such an outstanding success!   :thumb:

Thanks Simon, I have installed Trillian, now I'll have a play to work it out.
I have been researching keyboards, as Michaels has died, and I see that there are ones that notify you of messages and emails, maybe thats what I need.  ;D
