I passed 4 on my travels today, one fixed and two mobiles on motorway bridges.  The bridge mobiles are regulars so the cautious slow down before approaching the bend.  The 4th camera was a mobile quite close to home but someone flashed their lights to warn me.   :santa:  Another day another dollar without the misfortune of getting caught.  But tomorrow is a re-run of today's journey and I may not be quite so alert!   ::)

Incidentally they are removing the fixed west bound camera on the M4 at junction 40 because it regularly causes 5 mile tailbacks caused by drivers almost grinding to a halt rather than pass it at 49 mph.  That camera must have cost millions on wasted fuel and missed business appointments during  the last 15 years.

A professional driver knows the speed limits, so doesn't need to spot speed traps, Sandra.  It's the w**kers that hide behind the bushes you want to look out for, especially if they jump out and flash their equipment as you women speed past checking your hair in the mirror.  :P

You wouldnt hack it as a cabbie round here then Simon.

I think that 30, 40 and 70 must mean something different in urdu and punjabi as I have never seen a taxi drive inside the normal speed limits around here  :o:

We have strict regulations as to who can become a taxi driver round here, Sandra.  You have to have had a clean UK license for three years, can speak English, pass a police check, and take a knowledge test, before they even consider giving you a hackney license.  Luckily, there are no 'independent' mini-cabs in this area.

Insisting that people can speak english and expecting them to know the area would be deemed unfair and possibly racist up here Simon.   ::)

I think most of them do have a driving licence, but it doesnt always have to be their own, as long as it has mohammed, ali or some  similar name that seems to be acceptable.

I was caught last christmas coming home from up north. All fixed cameras have to be sign posted, we didn't see a sign or the camera going up, and I certainly didn't see any sign or the damned camera coming home.
At christmas here we have double demerit points, so instead of just losing 3 points I lost 6, that's half my license gone.
This year I will be a little more careful.
