Hi Linda,

You said at the beginning that this problem has occured in the last week, so can we assume it was OK before then?  If that is the case, can you remember anything you did, or any programs you may have loaded, unloaded, or adjusted, just prior to the problems starting?  Any information you can think of might help us to solve your problem.

Sorry Linda I was passed some duff information about turning JAVA off,apparently he now tells me it has to be enabled.As it already was enabled it is unlikely to be that though

My suggestion would be to find Internet Explorer on a CD (magazine cover disc?), and reinstall it on top of itself.  This way you would not lose your favorites, and it may repair any errors, which it sounds to me like this problem relates to.  I've done this procedure a number of times myself, when I had W98, and it does sometimes help.

Yes, and just to add, I think you can still upgrade if you don't have version 6, by over installing.

Hi Everyone,
I am back. Simon, the only thing I can think of is about a week and a 1/2 ago, I downloaded a theme from themes.tocows.com The file name was STPATRICKSDAY.ZIP it was a winzip file from rutgers.themes.tocows.com I have downloaded themes from there before without any problems. But it seems like it was right after that is when the problem began. My daughter removed the download about three days later thinking that may have been the problem. It did not help. I will contact IE and ask them to send me the IE 6 disk and I will try that. In the mean time if anyone has any other ideas, I would appreciate it. Thanks to all!!! Linda

Linda, you haven't got Netscape loaded on your computer as well as IE by any chance?

Done a quick search and there's nothing on Norton's website to suggest that might be a virus, Linda, so that's a relief!

You can find an IE disc on the cover of many PC magazines.  Might save you waiting for one to arrive in the post.  Before you do anything, you would be wise to save your Favorites folder, either on a floppy disc, or somewhere else on your PC.  Come back to us when you find an IE CD, and we'll help you through it, if you need us.

Hi, Clive, I am a novice. How would I know if I had netscape running along along with IE? Simon, I will take your advice and get a magazine with IE 6. Thanks, Linda

You would have to have downloaded Netscape at some point to be running it, Linda, in which case you should have an icon on your desktop.  If not, you probably haven't.
