Book supermarket delivery slot online
« on: March 21, 2007, 10:19 »
Doing your grocery shopping online could become even more convenient with the launch of a new service from mySupermarket.co.uk.

The website, which already allows surfers to compare the price of their shopping baskets at four different supermarkets before choosing which one to buy from, now allows users to view and book delivery slots too.

The changes have been made as a result of customer feedback.

?Our customers have inundated us with great ideas, and we've listened. Bookable delivery slots were identified as a critical issue for our customers, so we're really pleased to now be able to offer this through the site,? said Johnny Stern, Director of MySupermarket.co.uk.

Visitors to mySupermarket can compare prices between Ocado, Waitrose's online service, and Sainsbury's, Asda, and Tesco's. The site was launched in October 2006.

I believe Simon often shopped online for groceries, do you still do that Si?   Friends of mine often remark that online shopping isn't all its cracked up to be, in so much as they often get near end date produce or worse.. out of date delieverd!  :ack:

What is the general concensus??

When I used to shop with Tesco online, yes, the products were often near end of shelf life, in fact, I have since heard / read somewhere that Tesco actually select these products for the online shoppers, as they know people will not usually buy them in store.  I switched to Sainsbury's about a year ago, and it's definitely better, but not perfect.  Yesterday, my delivery included two substitutes, which were supposed to be for 2 bottles of red wine at around £5 per bottle.  These were obviously out of stock, so they sent two bottles at £12.99 per bottle!!  That would have increased my bill by about £15, which I think is very naughty.  Needless to say, I rejected the offered alternatives, and sent them a snotty email, which they will probably ignore.

All in all, online shopping has it's drawbacks, but it's the price you pay if, like me, you just can't be arsed to do it yourself.
