Media problem
« on: April 06, 2007, 09:54 »
Ayup!

My windows media has stopped playing internet radio and video reports on the BBC site. It plays music and videos that are on my PC without any problem.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks

John

The BBC site was running very slow one day last week when I wanted to watch Question Time, it must have taken over 30 minutes before it started playing but I havent tried anything else this week.

Which version of media player are you using and have you got any windows updates for it ?

Couldn't you have just switched the TV on, Sandra?    :dunno:

It was because I had missed it on TV that I wanted to watch it the day after Simon  :P

Hi,

It's version 9. I haven't checked for an update basically becasue I won't be able to verify that my win XP isn't a copy!!
As for the BBC, it's a problem that I've had for over a week, that and the radio.

Scatching head...........

I fixed it, Sandra!

I managed to download the first available update on the microsoft site without being asked to verify.

It did the trick!!

I'm now listening to my fave net radio.

Great news  :)

They sometimes change the way they transmit things on their TV and radio channels and that can mess up some freeview set boxes, until a firmware update from the manufacturers fixes it.
So I assume they may do a similar thing with streaming media over the net.
I can understand you sticking with media player 9 as it seems much better than 10 but 11 seems ok if you get the chance to install that sometime.
