If you are a victim of cybercrime from anywhere in the European Union there is now a central portal you can report the incident to.

Victims of Internet Crime Europe, or Voice, has been set up to provide a place where you can warn others about scams you have encountered, while providing data for security experts to scrutinise.

The scheme was announced at last week's International Conference on Global E-Security, held at the University of East London (UEL).

?Gathering accurate information on this subject is inherently tough; victims often fail to report cybercrime because they don't know how or where to complain," said Dr Hamid Jahankhani, principal lecturer in Information Security at UEL.

?Working with researchers, industry, law enforcement and government partners across Europe, we aim to create a single repository for internet crime data for all countries across the EU,? said Jahankhani.

Cybercrime is estimated to have cost companies and individuals $220 billion last year.
