A great video clip!  That tortoise was probably wondering why it's potential nest kept moving away!  I'm not surprised the cat was scared of it because tortoises can inflict quite a lot of pain with their sharp claws although I doubt that they do so intentionally.

Yes that shell is as hard as nails!  The tortoise would have retracted its head inside itl but I'm surprised the cat didn't try and have a gouge with its paw.
