Monitor Result!
« on: June 19, 2007, 17:14 »
Well if you remember my 19inch vusys - packed up - and I was going to see if I could get it fixed or get a lead, and well seeing as I had a monitor inplace it wasn't too urgent so I never did get it fixed.

A friend of mine sold me, very cheaply! a NEC Multisync 20" LCD 2080UXi ............ Very Smart Indeed!  :woot: ;D ;D ;D

Only trouble is ........... (you knew it was coming didn't you)

after plugging in the old crt monitor everytime I logged on I had to reset the resolution and I thought it was because it didn't like the ATI graphics fingy ........

but I've got the same trouble with this one, I've downloaded the drivers for the monitor and it knows its there but still it goes back to erm 800x600 or 480x something - anyway its huge. The best size they say for this monitor is 1900x something, well thats too small for me I like 1200 x 960 but how can I get it to set it - any idea's please guys?  :-\

Out of all the things I've lost .......I miss my mind the most!!

Some suggestions...

1.  Have you got an ATI control panel anywhere?  Perhaps in Start > Control Panel?  Might be some adjustments in there you could fiddle with.

2.  In Device Manager, is the Display Adapter showing as installed properly, or is there a yellow exclamation or question mark?  Assuming you have installed the software correctly, sometimes the drivers need updating from there too.

3.  Ask Sandra.  ;D

Thanks Simon for your suggestions

1 - yeah I was  hoping it was that but it is set in there to the setting I want.

2 - No that looks fine and just incase I searched for an updated driver.

3 - Hopefully Sandra will have an idea  8-) ;D

What is weird is that it started when I put the old CRT on, so has that done something? Very odd.  :dunno:

You have changed the setting in Display Properties, yes?  Right click Desktop > Properties > Settings should be where to look.

Yes I do that everytime I log on to my name.

Another odd thing is Luke said he doesn't have to change it with his log in name, but he doesn't get so many options?  so it must be me lol

I click the option to keep these settings and then next time - its back to huge.

I assume that you didnt uninstall or remove the monitor from inside device manager before you connected the new monitor ?

Try uninstalling the monitor then reboot and let it install the new one, hopefully that will give you the options you want and allow you to make your choice stick on future reboots.

oh no I didn't uninstall the old monitor - either of them  should i have done that.

No others are showing tho, just this one.  :dunno:

So I'll just uninstall this new one and let it install it on its own is that right.
