James Blunt's hit is the gratest
« on: June 25, 2007, 12:31 »
SOPPY ballad You?re Beautiful by JAMES BLUNT has been voted the most irritating song of all time.

The single was No1 in 11 countries in 2005, including five weeks in Britain.

Second in the poll to find the song that grates most was Axel F by CRAZY FROG, which was No1 in 13 countries.

Next was Mmm Bop by HANSON, top of the UK charts for three weeks in 1997.

John Sewell, of market researchers www.onepoll.com, said: ?James Blunt isn?t the obvious choice, but any song that is at No1 for so long does start to get annoying.?

The most recent song was this year?s Grace Kelly by MIKA and the oldest was LULU?s Shout (1964).

TOP 10:

1. You?re Beautiful ? James Blunt. 2. Axel F ? Crazy Frog. 3. Mmm Bop ? Hanson. 4. Mr Blobby ? Mr Blobby. 5. Birdie Song ? The Tweets. 6. Shout ? Lulu. 7. Agadoo ? Black Lace. 8. Grace Kelly ? Mika. 9. My Heart Will Go On ? Celine Dion. 10. La Macarena ? Los Del Rio.

My Heart Will Go On ? Celine Dion.  Now that's a definite No. 1.

And anything by Hanson, for sure, but James Blunt, I quite like him.

And this is what I think of the Crazy Frog...... http://www.somethingwrong.co.uk/crazy_frog_baseball/

I actually quite like Grace Kelly by Mika, but the rest I would agree with, along with anything hip hop, (c)rap, house, garage, porch and TV manufactured pap.

I don't believe I've heard that one Simon, must have a listen.

OK just did, it reminds me a bit of Queen, so I don't understand why it's on the list. :dunno:

And I do agree about (c)rap, it's the only music that Michael plays that I really don't like, and calling it music, is a stretch. :ack:

I can't stand rap crap either because I cannot see that there is any talent involved in just saying the words instead of singing them.  The words are often a bit suspect too! If they start playing a rap song on my favourite radio station (Radio2) then the off button gets hit quicker than they can say "I'm gonna bitch slap my whore".

'Shaddapa Your Face' by Joe Dolce would have made it to the top of my list.

Rap isn't music and it isn't poetry - it's chanted doggerel.
