AVG
« on: August 20, 2007, 10:01 »
I deleted AVG in the normal way but now everytime I boot up a message appears which tells me that AVG cannot be intitialised. I cannot remove it via Control Panel. There are 59 entries in the Registry for AVG. Is it safe to delete these?
Thanks.

hmmm, not sure - possibly - are you sure all of the program was removed and that you dont have one of the other services (such as the spyware) program running?

Was there any messages pop up when you uninstalled avg?

Might actually be worth reinstalling avg and then trying to remove again - I would try this before deleting the registry.

If reinsalling and then uninsatlling again doesn't cure the problem, try clicking Start > Run > Type MSCONFIG into the box, click the Startup tab and take the ticks out of any boxes referring to AVG?  If, as you say, you have some registry entries left behind, then some references to the program are probably still active.

By the way :welcome:

I've also been having problems with AVG lately.  Every 10 days or so it tells me the database is corrupted and the program must be re-installed.  Has anyone else encountered this?

Thanks for the replies !! I tried to install AVG from a cover disc - without any success.
I downloaded the program from Grisoft and it now works OK.
Thanks again for your help.
