Topic: Jesus the Muslim

Did anybody watch the programme last night on ITV by Melvin Bragg.?

It's the first time I realised that the Muslims recognise Jesus as being a devine being but not God himself.

I must be a muslim at heart as I have always believed that Jesus was not God come down to earth. If he was, then he must have been praying to himself on the cross.

Apparently Jesus is mentioned repeatedly in the Koran.  I bet not a lot of folk know that (Even Tony).

I think that anyone who has looked at the various myths that we call religions would know that Jesus was a muslim prophet Lona.

Christianity, judaism and islam all have the same basic root as theyre all based on the same story passed down by word of mouth and all got distorted as all such methods of passing something on does (Chinese whisper effect).

No matter which part of the world or which religion, even if its one that worships the sun and moon as gods etc all have the same basic story.
They all believe in good and evil spirits or forces.
They all believe in an afterlife.
They usually have a great flood that cleansed the earth.
They usually have a man who arose from the dead.
They all have a code to live by.

This was to keep some kind of order and control over the general populace and to give them some way of accepting what they didnt know at the time about how the world and the universe worked.

... oh and the Koran can prove an interesting read - lots of very similar stories between it and the bible - as Sandra says its almost exactly the same... but remember that if you are a Muslim the Christians are evils and if you are a Christian the Muslims are evil.

The documentary didn't call either evil and both muslim and christian discussed their different views without blowing themselves up.  It was a very unbiased documentary and well presented.

Aren't most religions based on love and compassion for your fellow human being, that is until they are hijacked by extremists to be manipulated in to a tool for their own evil use. Everything is corruptible.

Saw an interesting programme on Fundamentalists, which first appeared in America. A series of books written called The Fundamentals: A Testimony to the Truth. But when that name was linked to Muslims, they tried to distance themselves.

Well, it's only Muslims that blow themselves up.  Christians just blow up other people.
