Does anybody know if there is a registry "hack" which can be used to alter how often AVG Free Edition demands to be updated?
I spend a lot less time on the computer than I used to, especially during "summer" when I am often out hiking or camping. As a result, the computer can sometimes go days at a time without being switched on. AVG Free demands a update every five days and there is no way within the program to change this, so (at the moment) every other time I switch the thing on I get AVG demanding an update. For example, I have switched on today, got the pesky "Definitions are out of date" bubble, updated the definitions, then had to update the program as the update manager was indicating that a program update was ready, updated that and then immediately after restart another update was waiting. By the time I had done all of this and then allowed the changed program in my firewall, seven minutes had gone by and I had only put the PC on to check for an email I am expecting from a campsite owner! This is unacceptable.
There must be something in the registry that can be altered to force AVG to look for updates at a more reasonable interval, like every fourteen days. If anybody can tell me where it is I'll put you on my Christmas card list!
Thanks.
