I installed VMware Wokstation 6 this afternoon on a friends pc thats running Vista as we were having problems getting the Line In to record properly.
Audio out was fine so I thought that if we installed this program and then installed XP as a "Guest" OS that may overcome the problem.
Unfortunately it hasnt but this program has a lot of potential.
You can run as many "Guest" OSs as you like, individually or simultaneously and switch between any of them and your "Host" OS effortlessly.
The windows version I got will run all windows versions from 95 on in 32 and 64 bit, plus Linux 32 and 64 bit.
I think you can install it on anything higher than 98SE.
Theres a seperate version for running on a Linux "Host" pc that will run all the other OSs as "Guest" ones.
It may be handy for trying Vista on an XP pc to see what will work and what wont work with your current hardware and software.
If something doesnt work in Vista you can run it in XP.
I may try it on my pc later to try 64 bit OSs out as last time I tried XP 64 bit there wasnt much in the way of drivers and software for it.
If you dont want to buy this program theres a similar one free from MS called Virtual PC but I am not sure it it only runs off Vista or not.
