Topic: downloading tv guide in media center

I have a three month old computer running vista and am having trouble doanloading the tv guidethats within windows media center I'm getting an error message "Guide server error. File validation error mismatched guide package code 21"
Has anybody any idea what this means? I've tried contacting the dealer I purchased it from and I'm getting nowhere.

I dont know that particular code but it sounds like a firewall problem.
Mine didnt need anything doing to it to allow it to download and it always connects ok.
Have you got a 3rd party firewall on that you can temporarily disable to see if it works ok ?

Thanks for your reply Sandra,  the only firewall i'm using is the one in vista.  I tried switching off that and downloading the guide but it still didn't work.  For the first 2 months everthing worked great but for the past month it's been duff.
on 6/7/07 i recieved an update for media center and although I'm not sure exactly it was about that time when I started having trouble, it may have been a coincidense

After many months of searching for an answer to my problem ie error 21 when downloading the guide in microsoft media center I discovered that I could download the media epg by switching off the administator controls, as I am the only user of the pc I don't need it anyway, it now works a treat.  I hope this helps others with this problem
