Over the last few days, I've noticed when firing up (XP Pro, SP2+updates) that the Spyware resident shield pops up a notice regarding an allowed registry change. When I look in the log, it states:

19/09/2007 11:51:03 Allowed value "scrnsave.exe" (new data: "C:\WINDOWS\system32\logon.scr") changed in Desktop settings!

What is going on, any ideas, please? Is this a sign of malicious activity?

I would hazard a guess that "scrnsave.exe" is indeed your Windows screensaver, and unless you have downloaded any other screen savers off the web, I would presume it to be harmless, but best to do a full virus / spyware scan to be on the safe side.  It could be a false positive from SAS following an update, which will hopefully disappear with the next update.
