Vista seems to have a pretty nifty backup utility that lets you back up important files to a set of burnable DVD's. It even remembers your settings for subsequent backups and you can have an incremental option to just back up new or changed files. (you do have the option of doing full back ups too).
However, it only backs up essential document files in all the standard locations, and whatever other files you choose. There is no 'total system backup'.
I have so many programs and files that if I ever had a catastrophic HD failure it would take me a week to get all things back running. First I was wondering if there is some kind of basic Vista Recovery disk I can make? I don't see anything within vista for making a boot or rescue disk. I also don't remember anything in my original software other than the operating system and some drivers, though I suppose I could use the Vista disk as some kind of recovery?
I had a bluescreen once that would not go away, even on safety mode, for about 3 hours. After just trying numerous restarts it finally just worked. I have no idea what went wrong, but it scared me.
What are your thought on methods for doing a total system backup? Is it even possible? And is there some kind of rescue disk I can and should create in Vista? Tks...
