Ayup!

I can't get any web page to appear on Explorer. I think that this could have been provoked by changing my server. (Had to use a configuration CD) My Mrs. changed to 'Orange'. Telephone, TV and internet, but it was a load of you know what, so we went back to the previous server. Now Explorer won't connect to any web page. Although my other PC, which we couldn't connect to Orange, doesn't have any Explorer problems.

I've gone through tools-options-configuration with no joy.

The PC is actually connected to the net because e-mule works without any problem.

I haven't got a copy of windows xp.

Any ideas please....

Hi John, a few things to try:

1. Check your firewall to make sure Internet Explorer is being allowed.

2. Have you gone to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced and clicked the 'Reset to defaults' button?  Might just do it.

3. Try going into Control Panel > Network Connections, right click your internet connection, select Properties and make sure TCP/IP is ticked.

If none of them work, come back to us, as I'm sure there will be some other ideas.

I wonder if Jonh is using a router or a modem (I'm assuming router, given two PCs). In which case, the setup CD may have done more harm than good.

Hello!

Just got back from the Chinese :thumbs:Always eat toooooo much.

Simon: Done all that. The configuration is perfect. TCP/IP etc.

Rik: Yes. I'm using a wifi card. The router/modem is on top of the other PC. And yes. The CD has probably caused this.

Anyway, I downloaded Firefox on to my pen drive on PC # 2. Same problem. Can't connect to server.

I think Orange is using some bad software!!!

My Mrs. says that she   m  i  g  h  t   be able to get a browser on CD from her company. Don't ask me to hold my breath on that one!

Can you navigate to your router from a browser, John? What OS are you running? How are you connected to the router, cable or wireless?

No. I can't navigate to the router from a browser.
Running windows xp pro.
I have 2 PCs. One PC has a direct connection with the router/modem. The other PC is using wireless. (wifi)
I spoke to the sever support a few minutes ago and she said that it must be a browser problem.

Which one is having the problem, John, wired or wireless?

On that machine, do a Start > Run > CMD <enter>

Then type ipconfig /all <enter>

Cut'n'paste the result will you?

This is what I did:

Internet connections
Properties
Click on ?internet protocol TCP/IP?
Click on properties
Choose ?find IP and DNS automatically?
Accept

and that did it.
